PRESIDENTIAL frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. on Wednesday vowed to address the high prices of fertilizer and power costs in Oriental Mindoro, stressing that they were the best and fastest ways to bring the province to the road of prosperity and stability.
During his speech in Calapan City, Marcos who was also endorsed by Gov. Humerlito Dolor who vowed to give him huge win, said the next administration carries a heavy load on its shoulders in terms of giving Filipinos a better life following the pandemic crisis that badly hit the country’s economy.
Marcos said one of the keys to improving lives and livelihood of most Filipinos especially in Oriental Mindoro, is for the government to fully support the agriculture sector.
He noted that it can be done by preventing the runaway prices of fertilizers which are essential components in ensuring high yields for local farmers.
“Maraming dinalang problema at krisis ang pandemya at kasama sa nahirapan ng husto ay ang ating ekonomiya. Ang agrikultura kailangan pagandahin. Ang palay mura ( binibili ng mga middlemen), tapos yung Urea nasa P2,800 halos P3,000 na paano pa kayo ( mga magsasaka) makakabawi niyan,” he said.
“Kaya lahat ng problema sa agrikultura kailangan ayusin yan,” he added.
Residents of Oriental Mindoro were complaining that they were selling their palay to middlemen at very low price of P11 per kilo which put them at losing end because it costs them as high as P15 to produce one kilo of their palay yield.
Aside from the agriculture sector, Marcos also vowed to continue the Build, Build, Build program of the Duterte administration as he sees it as another way to bring down electricity rates in the province.
“Isa pang problema na kailangan gawan ng solusyon ng susunod na administrasyon ay makahanap ng paraan para mapababa ang singil sa kuryente,” he said.
“Kaya naman po tinitingnan namin ang pagpatuloy ng infrastructure program ng Pangulong Duterte, ang Build, Build, Build,” Marcos added.
The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard bearer also sees the need to continue the proposed Mindoro- Batangas Super Bridge which he said will also be the key to bringing progress, as it can facilitate easier and faster travel and commerce between the two provinces.
Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor, for his part said he supports Marcos’ candidacy because he has contributed heavily for the progress of their province in the past years.
“Sa lahat ng tumatakbong kandidato sa pagka-pangulo ngayon, siya ang isa sa may pinakamaraming nagawa para sa Oriental Mindoro,” he proudly said recalling all the road projects he asked Marcos for help.
He also said that Marcos is always there when the province is in need of assistance.
“Mga kababayan, tumitig sa hinaharap, tumitig kayo sa bukas na mas maganda at maliwanag. Sabi nga ng iba bakit ang susuportahan ko ay ang taong ito, simple lang ang sagot. Ang taong ito na kilala ko sa loob ng dalawang dekada ang nagparamdam sa akin at sa mga Mindoreño na higit sa kulay, higit sa anyo, tumutulong ng walang kapalit,” he said
“Bilang governor ninyo at mananatiling governor ng Mindoro, katuwang ang bawat isang Mindoreño, pagsama-samahin natin, ipanalo natin, ihatid natin sa Malacañang ang susunod na pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas,” Dolor added.
Marcos thanked their supporters for their warm welcome for him and the UniTeam who also visited the province.
“Nung pumasok ako sinalubong niyo agad ako ng mga sigaw ninyo. Nagpapasalamat ang buong UniTeam sa napaka-init niyong suporta,” he said.
Prior to his rally in Oriental Mindoro, Marcos first visited Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro and continued his Southern Luzon swing in Lipa, Batangas where he was joined by his running mate, Inday Sara Duterte.
